The UN International 16 Days of Action against Gender - based Violence (Violence against women) takes place between November 25th and December 10th each year and our Transition Year students played no small part in supporting this initiative in 2022.
One of the window displays in our school creating awareness and support for the “Orange the world Campaign”
Thanks to the efforts and organisational skills of TY students namely Tara Jennings, Aisling Newman, Zaneb Habibi, Laiba Mujahid and Aoibhinn Byrne, over 70 shoes were painted orange and dispersed to shops in Claremorris and some to Castlebar too.
Transition Year Students downtown Claremorris placing shoes in over 25 shops in total. The girls received massive support for The Orange the World initiative from our local businesses for which we are all very grateful.
With help from all of the TY2 class and some TY3 students, orange spaces were created in our school to further raise awareness for this campaign.
Without the contribution of many shoes from our teachers and across the classes in our school this project could not have been completed so thanks to all who donated old shoes for this campaign.
