Ber’s Warmth Wellbeing Hub
mdeducational foundation, a charity prioritising student wellbeing, funded Ireland’s first placement of a dedicated Wellbeing Lead tofurther prioritise student wellbeing by supplementing and enhancing existing pastoral care supports and structuresat Mount Saint Michael Secondary School.
‘Ber’s Warmth’ Wellbeing Hub is an additional non-judgemental safe space in MSM where senior cycle studentshave an opportunity to discuss and explore their health and wellbeing. Students can engage in wellbeing enrichment activities, group work, local and national campaigns, one-to-one sessions and wellbeing projects. Students can access the Hub
- Before classes start in the morning (8.30am - 9am)
- During lunchtime (1.15pm - 2pm)
- After school (Mon-Thurs 4pm - 4.30pm and Fri 1.15pm - 1.45pm)
Providing up to date and current resources for students on topics such as exam stress, managing anxiety, building self-esteem and confidence is key to empowering the students to access additional support if necessary.
Wellbeing Lead, Grace McGee, highlighted that “building relationships with the senior cyclestudents is important to ensuring that the support offered from the hub is seen as accessible, inclusive and another safe space to approach”.
