Mount Saint Michael's rugby teams compete in the Connacht Junior and Senior ten-a-side leagues against schools from all over the province. The competition begins early in the school year and concludes with a Connacht final played in Connacht Rugby headquarters 'The Sportsgrounds' every March.
The Mount Saint Michael senior team won the Connacht League in the 2021/2022 season after an exhilarating game against Ardscoil Mhuire Ballinasloe and the school hopes to retain the cup for the 2022/23 season under their experienced captain Saoirse Quinn.
The Mount Saint Michael junior team were runners-up last year and lost a tightly contested final against The Convent, Roscommon at the Galway city venue. They hope to go one better this year and bring more glory to the school with their entertaining brand of rugby.
The school works in tandem with the Claremorris Colts club to promote the game within the school and throughout the locality.
