We know that the mental health and well-being of our students is critical to success in both school and life. Education about mental health and well-being is an integral part of the school curriculum throughout the year. In addition to this, every year in Mount Saint Michael, we are privileged to take part in ‘Fit and Well Week’. It is the perfect week for everyone in the school community to think about their own wellbeing both physically and mentally.
During this week, students take part in a variety of activities which highlight the importance of keeping active and taking care of their mental health. These activities include yoga, boxercise, zumba, walking, cooking healthy meals, random acts of kindness and mindfulness to name a few. They also get the opportunity to attend talks from inspirational guest speakers who speak about their fitness and wellness story. It is a brilliant experience for all involved.
One of the most anticipated events of ‘Fit and Well Week’ is the teachers versus students game. The build up of the event and the cheering from the crowd is electric and you can feel the positive community spirit in the school.
Overall, it is always a successful week with lots of fun, positivity and laughter involved while focussing on the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing.
