A group of 17 Transition Year students spent a couple of worthwhile hours at McMahon Park recently as volunteers with the Claremorris and District Lions Club, where they planted 100 new Birch trees.
Sadly the ash trees at Clare Lake are dying due to ash dieback resulting from the spread of a fungal disease.
This initiative aims to replace the dying trees with disease resistant trees such as Birch.
Many thanks to the students who gave of their time to this project.
