Singing is a very important aspect of Wellbeing in our school and has many benefits.
There is a wonderful tradition of choral singing in our school. Timetabled choir takes place in 2nd Year, Transition Year and 5th Year. At present we have 60 students in the 2nd Year choir and 60 between the two senior choirs. Choral singing regularly happens in music classes also. For school masses and events we have 200 girls performing as part of the larger school choir.
The choirs take part in many events such as choral festivals, concerts, liturgies, graduation ceremonies, achievements day, enrolment evening, Nursing Home visits and the school musical. In April we sang in the Town Hall Theatre with past pupil Lisa Canny. In the past we have performed a piece composed for the choir by Ian Wilson with the Contempo String Quartet. Last year we performed with the Whistleblast Quartet in Ballina and Dublin.
Upcoming events include a performance of the senior choir as part of the Mayo Choral Festival in Ballina Arts Centre.
